CSW attended ESF36 on Saturday, May 2, 2015 (11:00 am to 4:00 pm), and had a well-received booth packed with information. We handed out tri-fold flyers and talked to many people, some of whom were very interested. (and got very few anti-comments this time) Our message was on target with this year's theme, "Healthy Habitats".
Thank you to our volunteers, Betty Credit (who was there from 'dusk til dawn' and talked to MANY people), Nina Widlund, Cindy Romain (who took great photos again), Sue Eissinger, Robert Donnelly, Mary Beth Wuerthner, Marla Crites, and Bill Donnelly for manning the booth, setting it up, and tearing it down. (Lesa Donnelly and Pat Serna helped with take-down and loading)
Although our shade system didn't work out as well as we had hoped, and didn't look that great, especially in comparison to the nice, store-bought canopies others used, it more or less worked, and the booth still looked pretty good. We re-used Betty's nice signs from the prior Saturday's Street Rally.
All-in-all, although it does tend to be a bit of work in the sense of being on your feet for an extended period of time, and talking to people, and the unloading and set up and take down and loading, it was fun and interesting and we talked to quite a few people who were interested, some of them fairly new to the issues. And we planted some seeds. (thanks to Betty for bringing the seedling tomatoes and chard and giving them away for free – that's always a nice draw and attention-getter)
It seemed like the Faire was larger this year with the number of booths and number of people attending. And the weather was a little warm, but not too hot. "Unfortunately", 'they' didn't aerosol spray again this year, in our area, so we couldn't point out the spray trails to people.
