Street Rally Report and May Meeting

BEC Endangered Species Faire THIS Saturday

The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment, is to get everybody involved.
    — Richard Rogers

Thank you to everyone who attended the Street Rally!

Sixteen people participated in and had a lot fun at last Saturday's Street Rally celebrating the Global March Against GeoEngineering. People were delighted with the honks and cheering and thumbs up from the drivers. There were many very good signs as you can see by the photos posted on our Facebook group page.

Best costume award goes to Brian S. for his Terminator helmet and hand used to grab people's attention. A big shout out to Mark and Carol who made a special trip all the way from the Susanville area just for the rally. (Sue E. drove over from Orland) The most readable sign award goes to Betty C. for her colorful, impactful signs she created and provided. Thank you to the photographers (Cindy R. and Lori O.-C.) for the nice photos and Chris C. for taking video.

And in all of our thanks, we forgot to thank all of the businesses downtown that put our poster up in their window. (we always forget someone)

BEC 36th Annual Endangered Species Faire

Chico Sky Watch will have a booth at the 36th Annual Endangered Species Faire this Saturday, May 2, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hosted by the Butte Environmental Council, this year's theme is "Healthy Habitats".

The event is FREE for all ages, with environmental education being offered alongside music, eco-entertainment, a rescued animal show, and a larger than life puppet parade, as well as many local social justice group presentation booths. The location is the same as last year, at the One Mile Picnic Area in Lower Bidwell Park, on the south side across from Sycamore Field baseball diamond. (map)

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help with booth set up (9:00 am), manning the booth throughout the day, and take down and clean up (till 5:00).

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 6 at 7:00 pm at the Chico branch of the Butte County Library at 1108 Sherman Ave. corner of First Ave.
